Pilates
Pilates
Joseph H. Pilates developed his pilates method in the early 20th century and spent his life dedicated to improving physical and mental health through exercise. Today’s Pilates techniques come directly from his original philosophy and movement patterns but have gradually evolved to integrate current biomechanical thinking.
Pilates is based on a series of low-impact conditioning movements, performed through a range of mat and equipment based exercises, with a strong focus on the mind-body connection. The classes can be modified and adapted to suit all levels and abilities
Some of the benefits include:
• Re-balancing muscle use throughout the entire muscular-skeletal system
• Improving posture, mobility, and flexibility of the spine
• Developing lean muscles without adding bulk
• Relaxation and stress reduction
• Complimenting training for athletes
